This is my laptop

This is my laptop. There are many like it but this one is mine.

I spend more time with this laptop than with anything else. To say I’m attached to it is an understatement. It’s an extension of my mind, body, and identity. It’s a part of everything I do and everything I achieve.

Except… This isn’t my laptop.

It belongs to the organisation I work for. And the IT department make changes to it without telling me they are going to. Things like enforced screen savers might be good for corporate branding but it creates a disconnect between this thing that is a part of me but is controlled by something outside of and unknown to me. It’s weird.
