Status updates: people-driven or task driven.

People-driven status updates take the team members that are available to make updates as the starting point. The question asked is, “Which tasks have you progressed?”. Those that are available update on their progress on the tasks. If the person isn’t available then their progress doesn’t update the task.

Task-driven status updates use tasks as the starting point. The question asked is, “How has this task progressed?” Anyone that has worked on that task can add to the update. If someone isn’t available then their update isn’t added to the task.
