Communities of practice for sharing tacit knowledge
If knowledge sharing is assumed to be an essential capability in modern knowledge work organisations, then codified information can be transmitted via documents, etc., but tacit knowledge can only be shared person-to-person, and communities of practice might be a good method. The key will be in the communities crossing organisational hierarchies, otherwise the knowledge stays within silos.
